Japanese technical apparel brand TEATORA has partnered with BEAMS on a tiger camo iteration of its two most distinctive silhouettes: the Cartridge Shirt and the Wallet Pants Resort. The collaboration marks TEATORA’s first patterned special-order and brings the label’s signature HOVER LAYER fabric — a near-weightless travel textile — into BEAMS’s retail ecosystem.
The capsule is available at select BEAMS stores and online. In a market saturated with heavy outerwear and statement pieces, TEATORA’s proposition — a shirt that weighs less than a T-shirt but performs like a shell — stands out for what it removes rather than what it adds. The tiger camo is the hook; the HOVER LAYER is the story.
The HOVER LAYER fabric, developed by TEATORA’s founder and designer Masato Maeda, is a proprietary construction that achieves an unusual combination of properties: it weighs almost nothing, breathes in heat, blocks wind, and resists water while maintaining a soft, almost cotton-like hand feel. The material’s performance characteristics are invisible — the shirt reads as a relaxed overshirt, the pants as easy resort trousers.
The tiger camo pattern, applied as an all-over print, represents a departure for TEATORA, whose previous output has focused on solid colors and tonal neutrals. The decision to introduce pattern through the BEAMS collaboration reflects both brands’ confidence in the HOVER LAYER fabric’s ability to carry graphic treatment without compromising its technical properties.
For BEAMS, the collaboration continues a long history of identifying and amplifying Japanese technical brands that operate at the intersection of utility and design. TEATORA, which maintains a cult following among travelers and outdoor enthusiasts, has been a consistent part of that ecosystem, and this capsule brings its most iconic silhouettes to a wider audience.
