Andersson Bell has opened its first Japanese flagship in Tokyo’s Aoyama district, converting a 1993 brutalist building into a three-story study in contrast.
The store doubles as a creative community space, and its opening coincided with the Tokyo-shot FW26 campaign, grounding the collection in the city that now houses it.
The Aoyama address is significant, a neighborhood where Korean labels have increasingly staked claims as their global ambitions outgrow Seoul.
The interior is a direct translation of the label’s ethos, ‘the beauty of contrast’, the same tension that runs through its tailoring: hard edges against soft drape, severity against warmth.
The store’s brutalist shell does the heavy lifting, and in a district of glass facades, concrete and color is the louder statement.
For Andersson Bell, the flagship completes a circuit: a Seoul-based brand, designed in dialogue with Tokyo, occupying one of the city’s most storied shopping streets.
To commemorate the milestone, the brand dropped exclusive accessories: a graphic unisex t-shirt and a narrative-driven leather heart keyring.
