Kering has created a chief product officer position and handed it to Marilyne Trebus, a luxury executive with more than two decades of experience across Europe and the United States. She assumed the post at the start of September.
The role is the latest addition to the centralised structure of centres of excellence the group has been assembling. Trebus reports to Carlo Di Biase, the executive who oversees industrial and product co-ordination across the houses.
Trebus arrives from L’Oréal, where she served as chief product officer, carrying expertise honed in beauty into the leather-goods and ready-to-wear realm.
The appointment sits inside a wider reorganisation aimed at steadying Gucci and sharpening product discipline across the portfolio. Centralising the function lets the group apply a unified approach to categories that had grown fragmented.
Her mandate spans product strategy, merchandising, and the pipeline that runs from creative idea to commercial reality, across labels including Gucci, Saint Laurent, and Bottega Veneta.
For a business betting on a turnaround, control over product is control over the message. The new role gives Kering a single vantage point over what reaches the shelves and how it is shaped.
