Willy Chavarria has released his latest Adidas capsule, anchoring the drop on two Megaride silhouettes dressed in a drained, desert-toned palette. The shapes channel the opulent bulk of 1990s running shoes while carrying the designer’s signature oversized, beside-the-point branding.
The Megaride, a descending-lug runner, reads here like a relic of another decade pulled into the present. Chavarria’s treatment softens the technical racket of the sole with matte finishes and a muted, skinned-down colorway.
The capsule continues the designer’s recent run of Adidas work, which has explored the space between cholo-influenced tailoring and sport. His previous drops leaned on track pants, popovers, and the low-slung proportions he has made his own.
The design language peers at American sportswear through a specific cultural lens. Chavarria has described his work as a meditation on identity and the codes of working-class dress, and the new release carries that impulse into footwear.
The drop lands at a moment when oversized retro runners have settled into the mainstream sneaker rotation. Chavarria’s version stands apart through its restrained color and an almost architectural clarity of line.
