Carolina Herrera marked its 45th anniversary during New York Fashion Week, with creative director Wes Gordon staging a Spring 2027 show built around the house’s codes.
Gordon has positioned the house with a young, polished American romanticism that keeps Herrera’s socialite DNA while loosening it for a new customer.
Last season he pulled artists and gallerists including Amy Sherald and Rachel Feinstein onto the runway as models, a gesture that framed the house as a cultural institution rather than a purely social one.
Gordon, who succeeded the eponymous founder in 2018, doubled down on the label’s strength, voluminous taffetas, crisp white shirting and grand evening columns delivered with architectural certainty.
The anniversary collection extends that idea, treating color and volume as the signature rather than any single garment.
At 45, the brand’s bet is that formal dressing done with real wit still has a wide audience, and his confident restraint suggests he intends to prove it.
