Charli XCX Is Selling the Tour Wardrobe, One Vintage Find at a Time

The look that anchors this story is not a runway: it is a floor-length Donna Karan dress with an appliqué bird, still waiting for its moment on a stage.

Charli XCX has been sourcing vintage and designer pieces from Vinted sellers, with her longtime stylist Chris Horan, to build the wardrobe for her Music, Fashion, Film tour. Now the pieces go back out through a curated sale across the UK, US and Australia, with proceeds to the LGBTQI+ charity Rainbow Railroad.

The sale opens on 16 November, with a behind-the-scenes film of the thrifting process arriving on 8 November. Fans can tag listings with the hashtag charlixcx for a chance to be noticed.

The key piece in circulation is an early-2000s Christian Audigier garment reworked into a dress for Austin City Limits, the kind of object that reads as deliberate only when everything around it stays quiet.

The stylist’s note is about sourcing as authorship. Buying secondhand and reworking it is a design act, and it produces outfits nobody can replicate by ordering new.

What the project says about fashion now is that provenance has become the scarcest luxury, and it cannot be manufactured on demand.

For a different context, the same instinct works at lower volume: pick one piece with visible history, wear it with denim and a plain shoe, and let the wear show.
