Chanel, Hermès, and Dior have been named the most desirable fashion employers of 2026, according to an industry-wide survey of 1,173 fashion professionals and aspiring workers across 93 countries conducted by BoF Careers.
The rankings reflect a persistent preference for houses that combine heritage craftsmanship with clear creative direction — brands where the product story is legible and the design hierarchy is stable.
Smaller independent labels and emerging designers scored higher on creative fulfillment and mentorship opportunities, suggesting that the allure of a famous name does not always outweigh the appeal of a hands-on environment.
The survey also revealed a growing gap between what talent expects from employers and what the industry currently delivers, particularly around flexible working arrangements and investment in skill development.
Respondents cited creative autonomy, brand prestige, and long-term career development as the three most important factors when evaluating a potential employer, ahead of base compensation.
The findings arrive at a moment when fashion’s talent market is tightening, with competition from adjacent industries — beauty, tech, entertainment — pulling skilled professionals away from traditional apparel roles.
