Dilara Findikoglu, the London-based designer known for her gothic-romantic aesthetic and politically charged runway presentations, is entering the bridal category. The move expands the brand beyond ready-to-wear into made-to-order wedding pieces that channel the same subversive sensuality that has made Findikoglu a favorite of the fashion avant-garde.
The entry into bridal also makes commercial sense for a brand of Findikoglu’s scale. Bridal pieces command higher price points and longer lead times, providing more predictable revenue than the seasonal ready-to-wear cycle. The made-to-order model also avoids the inventory risk that has challenged wholesale-dependent independent labels.
The bridal offering will not be a conventional white-gown collection. Findikoglu’s bridal pieces incorporate her signature elements: corseted bodices with structural boning, sheer panels embroidered with occult motifs, flowing capes in heavy satin, and headpieces that evoke Victorian mourning jewelry reinterpreted for the contemporary bride.
Findikoglu joins a growing cohort of independent designers entering the bridal space as alternatives to traditional wedding-wear houses. The bridal market, estimated at roughly $70 billion globally, has seen increasing demand from brides seeking non-traditional aesthetics—a trend that favors designers with strong visual identities over established bridal specialists.
Findikoglu plans to show her first bridal looks during the upcoming London Fashion Week schedule, with private appointments available at her studio from September. The collection is expected to include both wedding gowns and accompanying pieces for bridal parties and post-ceremony celebrations.
The designer described the collection as “for the bride who doesn’t want to disappear into tradition.” Each piece is made-to-order in Findikoglu’s London studio, with prices starting at roughly £4,000 for simpler silhouettes and climbing for more elaborate constructions involving hand embroidery and custom fabric development.
