Louis Vuitton’s World Cup Trophy Trunk Is Ready for Its Close-Up

Louis Vuitton has unveiled the custom trunk that will carry the FIFA World Cup trophy during the 2026 tournament, continuing a tradition that began with the 2018 edition in Russia. The trunk, crafted in the maison’s historic Asnières workshop, is a study in restrained monumentality: covered in the brand’s signature Monogram canvas, reinforced with brass corners, and lined in microsuede that cradles the 18-carat gold trophy.

The trunk’s design language is deliberately spare — no elaborate graphics, no seasonal flourishes. The Monogram canvas does the heavy lifting, serving as a visual shorthand for the brand’s role as the official trophy supplier. The effect is one of quiet authority: the trunk announces its importance through material weight and precision, not decoration.

For collectors, the limited-edition run of three trunks represents a different value proposition. Each is a functional sculpture, built to the same specifications as the original but destined for a private salon rather than a stadium sideline. The price has not been disclosed, but previous World Cup trunks have commanded figures well into six digits.

Louis Vuitton CEO Pietro Beccari described the emotional weight of the commission. ‘There is a lot of emotion involved,’ he said, noting that the trunk will be present at every major moment of the tournament, from the draw ceremony to the final whistle. The maison has also produced a limited edition of three collectible trunks for private clients, each numbered and signed.
