Repetto and Yohji Yamamoto Give the Ballet Flat a Darker Turn

Repetto and Yohji Yamamoto have reunited for a third collaboration, resurrecting an archival pointe shoe in a version that pulls balletcore toward shadow.

Unveiled on the runway during Paris Fashion Week, the pair extends a partnership built on mutual reverence for craft and the discipline of the body.

The flat lifts the language of the stage, the ribbon and the slender sole intact, then renders them in Yohji’s blackened, deconstructed manner.

Black and white anchor the release, joined by a vivid red and a metallic silver reserved largely for select Japanese stores.

The silhouette stays true to the dancer’s narrow profile while the materials take on the rumpled, organic weight that characterizes Yamamoto’s tailoring.
