The initiative aims to fill a gap in the brand development ecosystem: companies too large for incubator programs but too small to afford the strategic consulting that helps established labels scale.
The accelerator launches at a time when the independent designer market is under severe pressure. Rising production costs, shrinking wholesale margins, and the dominance of direct-to-consumer giants have squeezed the mid-tier precisely where Vanderbilt & Seewald is positioning itself. The firm’s bet is that operational savvy, rather than creative ambition, is what the next generation of independent brands needs most.
The accelerator offers selected brands access to the founders’ extensive networks across manufacturing, retail partnerships, supply chain optimization, and media placement. Vanderbilt Costin brings decades of experience from her family’s legacy in American luxury — her great-grandfather founded the Vanderbilt dynasty — while Seewald’s background spans European brand strategy and operational turnarounds. Together, they offer a combination of heritage and pragmatism that early-stage brands rarely have access to.
The program’s structure is designed for practical outcomes rather than theoretical education. Over a six-month period, participating brands receive weekly strategy sessions, introductions to vetted manufacturers and fabric suppliers, retail buyer connections, and guidance on everything from pricing architecture to digital marketing attribution. The goal is to move brands from survival mode to growth mode within a single season.
