Yoshida & Co. Binds 90 Years in Bag-Thread Stitch

Yoshida & Co., the maker behind PORTER, is releasing a visual book for its 90th anniversary, bound with the wa-toji technique and stitched with the same thread the workshop uses to sew its bags.

Inside, the volume traces the past decade of PORTER, including ALL NEW TANKER, the project that reworked the signature TANKER series into a version made from 100 percent plant-based nylon.

Yoshida Kaban was established in 1935, which places the anniversary in 2026, and the book frames those nine decades as a bridge between current output and the workshop mindset it started with.

The YOSHIDA & Co. 90 Anniversary BOOK releases August 15.

The choice makes the object itself an extension of the craft it documents, carrying the brand’s handwork out of the workshop and into the reader’s hands.

Two editions are offered: a Collector’s Edition finished in TANKER fabric, and a Library Edition wrapped in cloth-covered heavy board.

It also records the exhibition ‘Every day is a new beginning’ staged at Kudan House, before reaching back to founder Yoshida Kichizo, his tools, and the handcart of the earliest days.
