Julian Klausner Presents His Second Dries Van Noten Menswear Collection for SS27

Julian Klausner presented his second menswear collection for Dries Van Noten on June 25 during Paris Men’s Fashion Week, returning to the Palais de Tokyo with a Spring/Summer 2027 offering that deepened his engagement with the house’s foundational vocabulary. After a debut season in January that established his command of the Dries Van Noten color-and-print lexicon, SS27 finds Klausner moving into more personal territory within the brand’s framework.

Klausner’s strength lies in his handling of print and color, and SS27 delivered on both fronts. A blown-up photographic transfer of fern fronds and orchids appeared across a silk shirt and coordinating trousers; a tie-dye effect in muted indigo and rust read as organic rather than nostalgic. The palette moved through terracotta, dusty pink, tobacco, and olive, with moments of saturated saffron that recalled the late founder’s fearless approach to color.

The evening section of the collection introduced a series of embellished pieces: a black silk jacket embroidered with crystal droplets, a sheer organza shirt worn open over a bare chest, and a single sequined trouser in deep emerald that caught the show’s final light. These pieces carried the emotional weight of a designer who is not merely preserving a legacy but testing its boundaries.

Julian Klausner’s task—to inherit one of fashion’s most distinctive design languages and make it his own—is among the more delicate transitions in the industry. Two seasons in, the evidence suggests he understands the assignment: honor the house’s DNA of poetic color and opulent fabric, but push the silhouette and attitude toward something that belongs to the present. SS27 reads as a collection in confident transition, neither a replica of the past nor a rejection of it.
