Mathilde Favier, Dior’s PR Director, Dies in Car Accident

Mathilde Favier, the Dior communications director who shaped the house’s public voice for years, has died in a car accident at the age of 57.

The industry’s gestures of remembrance will likely be private, in keeping with the way she worked, but their scale will measure what she meant to the house.

In an industry measured by spectacle, the communications office is the room where reputation is actually managed. Favier’s death removes one of the most experienced hands from a role that demands both fluency and restraint.

Dior chief executive Delphine Arnault confirmed the loss in a statement that read simply: ‘I have lost a loyal friend.’ The news was reported Tuesday by The Business of Fashion and WWD.
