ARKET has paired with New York-based artist and cook Laila Gohar on a collaborative clothing line marking her first ready-to-wear collection. The Nordic retailer and the artist also co-created a public installation for Milan Design Week, reimagining a fairground carousel as a sculptural set of oversized fruits and vegetables.
The partnership demonstrates that the most effective collaborations often come from unexpected disciplines.
The carousel installation, in particular, points to the growing role of experiential projects in fashion retail, where the space around the product becomes part of the offering.
The Milan installation extends the collaboration beyond commerce, turning the fairground carousel into a surreal still life. The oversized produce operates on the same logic as Gohar’s celebrated dinners: scale, color, and a sense of play.
