Muji is laying groundwork for a permanent return to Paris. The Japanese brand opened a pop-up at the Palais-Royal on June 20, running through July 5, as a precursor to a full flagship expected later this year.
The space itself embodies Muji’s design philosophy — bare concrete, natural wood shelving, and deliberate restraint. Nothing in the fit-out competes with the products on display.
The temporary space occupies a prime location in the 1st arrondissement, adjacent to the Jardin du Palais-Royal. It stocks Muji’s full range of apparel, home goods, and stationery — the minimalist essentials that built the brand’s global following.
This pop-up marks Muji’s most significant Parisian presence since the brand withdrew from several European markets during the pandemic. The location at Palais-Royal signals ambition, placing Muji in the same retail catchment as Dior, Chanel., and Hermès.
