Miuccia Prada and Raf Simons devoted their Prada spring 2027 collection to the skirt, treating it as the season’s raw material rather than a single garment among many. Nearly every look on the Milan runway featured one, a focused meditation on a piece Prada has long treated as an obsession.
Skirts arrived in layered, clashing forms, built from different eras and body languages jostling together in a single look. The effect was a deliberate awkwardness that deliberately refused to resolve into easy elegance.
The collection’s intent was to strip the skirt down and rebuild it from first principles. Prada and Simons used the garment as a site of experimentation, testing how far its construction and proportion could be pushed before it stopped reading as a skirt at all.
It is a characteristically Prada provocation: an entire season bent around a single garment, an invitation to reconsider something so familiar it had ceased to be questioned.
Fabric choices did the heavy lifting, with textures that played against each other to keep the monotony of a single garment type from settling in. The result was a collection that felt both coherent and perpetually unsettled.
