SKIMS has handed its sculptural scaffolding to Ludovic de Saint Sernin, inviting the Paris-based designer to rework the brand’s signature second-skin dressing for a capsule that strips the body back to pure line.
For SKIMS, the tie-up extends a strategy of borrowing independent design credibility without the cost of a permanent hire. For Saint Sernin, it places his point of view before a far larger audience than his own namesake line commands.
Saint Sernin, who has built a following on cut-out construction and a held, precise interplay of coverage and exposure, brings to SKIMS the same attention to where a garment begins and ends on the body.
The collaboration leans into sheer fabrications and intricate lace-up detailing, trading the designer’s usual current of sensuality into the label’s engineered-stretch vocabulary.
The capsule reads as a collision of two vocabularies, the mass-market ubiquity of founder Kim Kardashian’s empire and the couture-adjacent restraint of an independent designer’s atelier.
