Chanel Opens State-of-the-Art Fragrance Facility in Venette

Chanel has officially opened Venette, a sprawling fragrance manufacturing facility north of Paris that consolidates the house’s perfume production under one roof. The site, operational as of June 24, represents one of the largest industrial investments in French luxury beauty in a decade.

Sustainability features are embedded at the facility’s core. The building runs on geothermal energy, captures and recycles wastewater used in the production process, and uses lightweight glass for its bottles to reduce transport emissions. Chanel has committed to reducing the carbon footprint of its fragrance division by 40 percent by 2030, and Venette is the cornerstone of that ambition.

The opening comes as the broader luxury beauty sector grapples with ingredient shortages and rising raw material costs. By insourcing production that was previously split across multiple third-party manufacturers, Chanel gains both resilience and the ability to scale production of its heritage scents without compromising on quality control.

The 50,000-square-meter complex in the Oise region houses everything from raw material storage to bottling and packaging lines. Chanel has described Venette as a response to growing global demand for its fragrance portfolio — Chanel No. 5, Coco Mademoiselle, and Bleu de Chanel remain among the best-selling perfumes worldwide — and the need for greater control over supply chain traceability.
