Gucci and Waldorf Astoria have teamed with the International Padel Federation and Padel Australia for the sport’s biggest Australian showcase yet, staged on a custom glass court built onto the Northern Broadwalk of the Sydney Opera House.
With padel’s global participation climbing and a Games berth within reach, the Opera House court may prove the moment the sport crossed into mainstream consciousness.
The event doubles as a brand activation, with Gucci staging a private VIP takeover of the space and its adjacent Yallamundi Rooms on Friday evening.
The partnership is a study in how luxury houses treat sport as a distribution channel for lifestyle, converting athletic spectacle into hospitality and retail touchpoints.
Australian property is the strategic root of the tie-up, with the nation’s first Waldorf Astoria rising steps from the Opera House and slated for a 2027 opening.
