Balenciaga Takes Skiwear Off the Mountain and Into the Salon

Snow season has become the quietest battleground in luxury, and Balenciaga’s Skiwear 2026 arrives with the confidence of a house that has decided the slopes are a runway with better lighting.

Pierpaolo Piccioli designed the collection, and it carries his instinct for volume into technical ground: thermoregulating down, smart textiles, insulated layers built for real cold rather than for a photograph.

The market reality is that après-ski has become the more commercial half of the category. Buyers commit to the puffer that works in a city, and the technical specification justifies the price.

What would make this permanent is not another collaboration but a fabric pipeline. If the thermoregulation developed here migrates into autumn outerwear, skiwear stops being a capsule and becomes an engine.

The silhouettes run from cropped puffers and reversible blousons to high-collar parkas and snow pants, with reflective graphics, faux fur and hand-drawn prints derived from animal hide in high-visibility colour.

The context is a category in expansion. Skiwear has moved from a seasonal niche into a proving ground for fabric development, and houses now treat it the way they once treated activewear: as a place to test construction that later reaches the main line.
