Fresh off a historic gold medal at the Milan Winter Olympics, figure skating champion Alysa Liu has stepped off the ice and into Nike’s Studio Fleece campaign.
The campaign marks a new register for Nike’s fleece line: instead of athletic grit, it leans into the languid, pastel-soft world of an athlete at rest.
The 20-year-old fronted the campaign in a surrealist pastel salon setting, her off-duty wardrobe of baggy sweatpants and oversized hoodies rendered as a kind of dreamscape.
The campaign’s warmth is the point. After the medals and the arenas, here is an athlete who dresses for herself.
In an exclusive interview, the athlete explained how she prioritizes ‘mobility’ and ‘comfort’, layering roomy pieces with sneakers in a formula that reads as effortlessness but is entirely deliberate.
Liu’s approach to dressing has always carried Gen-Z energy and alt aesthetics, an eclectic, deeply personal style shaped by growing up in Oakland, California.
