Christie’s has announced an online auction of costumes from The Devil Wears Prada 2, with proceeds benefiting the Committee to Protect Journalists and the CFDA.
The sale runs September 1 through 15 on Christie’s website and spans apparel, accessories and jewelry from the film, conceived and supported by Meryl Streep.
In a fitting symmetry, Streep returns as the organiser of the giveaway, the character who once told a weary assistant that a million girls would kill for her job.
Fashion has become the most legible archive of the film’s world, and an auction of its costumes gives that archive a second audience.
During New York Fashion Week, on September 10, Christie’s will host an invitation-only cocktail reception and live charity auction, pairing additional film pieces with exclusive experiences.
