McLaren and Central Saint Martins Join Forces on a 12-Look Fashion Project

McLaren Racing has turned to Central Saint Martins to translate 63 years of motorsport history into fashion.

Central Saint Martins brings a lineage of its own, having produced generations of designers who treat material experimentation as the discipline’s core.

The collaboration, announced this week, set a cohort of MA Fashion students the task of reinterpreting the marque’s heritage in a collection of runway looks, twelve in total.

The project kicked off earlier this year inside the London atelier, with students, seamstresses and material technicians working from the archive rather than the showroom.

The partnership sits in a widening pattern of motorsport houses seeking cultural credibility beyond the paddock, where the audience buys the story as much as the shirt.
