Grace Wales Bonner will present her debut menswear collection for Hermès in January 2027, stepping into a role that Véronique Nichanian held for thirty-seven years. The appointment, announced in October 2025, positions the British designer as only the third creative director in the house’s menswear history.
The debut is scheduled for January 2027 during Paris Men’s Fashion Week. Until then, the industry watches for clues — a silhouette shown in her own label’s lookbook, a fabric treatment in a graduate collaboration — that might reveal how Wales Bonner intends to interpret Hermès’s particular strain of luxury.
The designer is the first woman of colour to lead menswear at the French house, a milestone that arrives as luxury fashion faces sustained scrutiny over representation at its highest creative levels. Wales Bonner’s appointment was met with widespread approval across the industry, in part because her work has never chased trend cycles.
Nichanian’s final collection, shown in January 2026, was a restrained masterclass in texture and construction. It set a high bar for continuity. Wales Bonner’s task is not to replicate that quiet confidence but to translate her own vocabulary into the house’s lexicon of saddle stitching, silk twill, and rigorously sourced leather.
