The LOEWE FOUNDATION has officially opened submissions for the tenth edition of its Craft Prize, one of the most prestigious awards in contemporary craftsmanship. The winner will be announced at a ceremony in Europe during spring 2027.
Open to anyone over 18 working in a craft-based profession, the prize has drawn over 5,000 entries across its first nine editions. The selection process is rigorous: a panel of experts whittles entries to a shortlist of 30, from which a final jury — composed of designers, curators, and critics — selects the recipient.
A decade in, the Craft Prize has become more than a competition. It functions as a living archive of what making means in the twenty-first century — a question that, for a luxury house built on leather and hand-sewing, is also a question about itself.
The prize, established in 2016 by creative director Jonathan Anderson, was conceived as a platform for makers working at the intersection of technical mastery and contemporary vision. Past winners have included ceramicists, woodworkers, textile artists, and metal sculptors from dozens of countries, reflecting a definition of craft that encompasses both tradition and experimentation.
