Dezso Calls Out Veronica Beard, and Jewelry’s Copy Problem Goes Public

Sara Beltrán, who founded the jewelry label Dezso in 2006, posted on Instagram this week accusing Veronica Beard of copying her designs. By Monday afternoon the post had moved through the industry faster than any press release could.

Veronica Beard subsequently pulled the jewelry from sale, an outcome that arrived without a court filing or a settlement announcement.

Beltrán’s work sits closer to artifact than accessory, with stone setting and metal finishing treated as structural decisions.

The deeper issue is structural. Independent jewelers publish their work continuously, and a design posted in January can be sampled and shipped by September.
